Whether it's your wedding or special occasion, a yoga sleep retreat, or a time out to catch up with friends, the house and grounds are yours for the duration of your stay and we encourage you to feel completely at home. Lisnavagh is steeped in history, life and living. It is a joy to experience these rooms in all their splendour and hours will be happily lost perusing the art, antiques and books, eating delicious food in the dining room and snoozing by the fire.
Lisnavagh House is available for exclusive hire for small and large weddings, yoga sleep retreats and events and celebrations. We have 6 bedrooms in the house (with extra twin if required) sleeping up to 14 people in total. In each of the bedrooms available at Lisnavagh House, antiques sit comfortably with contemporary objet d’art to create a wonderfully unpretentious and relaxed atmosphere. The rooms have been individually refurbished to provide a modern level of comfort whilst retaining their sense of charm and style. We can also accomodate up to 30 more guests in our four self catering cottages.
The Bunburys descend from Baron de St. Pierre, a Norman knight who served with William the Conqueror at the battle of Hastings in 1066. Part of the Bunbury family left Cheshire in the 1660s and settled in Co Carlow as tenants of the Duke of Ormonde until they purchased Lisnavagh in 1702. They became an important part of the ruling elite in Ireland during the late 17th century and, by 1860, the estate at Lisnavagh had evolved into one of the most advanced and efficient farms in the country. In 1879, Thomas McClintock Bunbury of Lisnavagh succeeded his uncle to become Lord Rathdonnell. His great-grandson Benjamin, the present Lord Rathdonnell, succeeded to Lisnavagh in 1959.
